How contracts work →Spokane's snow season usually runs November through March, with the heaviest stretch landing in December and January. Some years it's a handful of real storms and a lot of gray slush; other years it doesn't let up. The freeze-thaw cycle is the part that catches people off guard: a driveway that looks clear at 4pm can be a sheet of black ice by the time you're leaving for work the next morning, because meltwater refreezes overnight once temperatures drop back below freezing.
Then there's the berm. When the city plow clears an arterial, it pushes a wall of packed, heavy snow across the end of every driveway that meets that street. It's not an oversight, it's just physics, and it means a driveway can be perfectly clear and still unusable until that ridge gets broken up separately.
Elevation and orientation matter more than most people expect. Neighborhoods up on the prairie, like Five Mile, sit high enough to catch snow earlier and hold it longer than downtown. And a north-facing driveway in a lot of Spokane neighborhoods barely sees direct sun from December through February, so a patch that would melt off a south-facing slope in a day can sit as ice for a week.
For scale, the winter of 2008-09 is still the benchmark locals measure against, with well over 90 inches of snow across the region and weeks where crews couldn't keep up no matter how early they started. Most winters aren't that one, but it's the reason a lot of Spokane property owners plan for a heavy season instead of hoping for a light one.
Routes fill in order, and the first real storm always sells out whatever's left. Lock in your address now while pricing is still open and the route map isn't full.
No guesswork about what happens after you sign up. Here's the sequence from first call to spring wrap-up.
You give us the address, property type, and service interest. We map your driveway or lot into a route before the season starts.
When a trigger-depth snowfall hits, crews run assigned routes in priority order, contract customers first, then per-push requests.
After the main plow pass, a second pass clears the berm left by city plows and hand-clears steps and walkways.
De-icer goes down where freeze-thaw risk is highest, and your account carries through to the last storm of the season.
Most Spokane properties run on either a per-push rate or a flat seasonal contract, priced by driveway length, lot size, and typical trigger events for the season. A seasonal contract locks in a flat rate regardless of storm count; per-push bills only when a plow shows up. Ask for both numbers when you request a quote.
Both. A seasonal contract covers the full Nov-Mar window for one flat price and guarantees a route slot before the season fills; per-push service bills only for the storms that actually hit, which suits properties that don't need every event cleared. Most residential customers in North Spokane choose the contract once they've priced out a heavy winter.
Timing depends on your route position, contract tier, and how the storm is moving through the region, so we don't publish a fixed response window. Seasonal contract customers get priority routing and are typically cleared before per-push and one-time requests. Storm dispatch runs 24/7 during active weather, and route order is set the night before based on snowfall forecasts.
Yes. Berm clearing is included in residential seasonal contracts and available as an add-on for per-push service. City plows pack that ridge of compacted snow hard, so it usually needs a separate pass after the arterial has been cleared, timed to when the city crew has actually come through your street.
We run routes across Spokane's North Side, including Five Mile Prairie, Indian Trail, Country Homes, Wandermere, Mead, North Hill, Shadle Park, and Audubon-Downriver. Five Mile Prairie is our flagship territory given its elevation and microclimate. Check the service area page for a neighborhood breakdown or call to confirm your address.
